First Victory For Dog Owners In Germany
EPacitto

In Germany, besides the federal law, each land has its own lists of "dangerous dogs". These lists may concern tens of dog breeds, just like the Bergers de Beauce in Nordrhein Westphalen, for instance. Only Thuringia, as it judged that the existing laws were sufficient to solve the aggressiveness problems of a single dog, refused to consider that the mere breed of the dog was enough to call it dangerous.

Following the decision of its administrative tribunal, the land of Schleswig Holstein will have to suppress its lists too.

Indeed, following the laws passed a year ago against the so-called "dangerous breeds" Schleswig Holstein's administrative tribunal, after experts' studies and researches, decided that dogs could not be considered as dangerous after their breeds. Consequently, Schleswig Holstein's administrative Court cancelled the lists of dangerous dogs.

All the heavy taxes, administrative and police authorisations, compulsory neutering, expulsion because of a dog on the list, forbidding to take the train or other public transportation, even with a dog in cage or muzzled, etc... are now illegal. Definitely a good news for many dogs and their owners.
