The Prime Minister of the French King Louis XIII had a real passion for the cats. A museum entirely dedicated to the little feline has just opened its doors in the city of the Cardinal Richelieu, in the region of the Loire Chateaux.
The Museum of the Cat has just opened in one of the most beautiful private ancient houses of the city of Richelieu, and its rooms are already full of treasures.
First, the visitors will be able to discover a series of portraits of the Cardinal’s 14 cats, realised by two contemporary artists. The Cardinal’s passion was such that the creator of the museum, Mia Leroy, wanted to pay a tribute to him.Then, as the visitors stroll along the various rooms, they will discover the cats declined around different themes: the nature, with a photograph exhibit of cats hidden in gardens or high in trees; the fairy tales; the cats from the children’s books; the astrology; the astronomy; the heraldry, etc. Besides these various exhibitions, the Museum of the Cat has many projects. It would like to have the Cat Constellation back in the astral maps, and has published a petition on the topic. This museum also takes part in many cat protection actions. And another of its main goals is to make the cities local authorities aware of the relationship that unites the elderly people and their pets.
