A bill whose goal is to forbid the Rottweiler, the Pit Bull and the Neapolitan Mastiff, is currently being studied in Sao Paulo, Brazil…
Anti dog laws know no border any more, and the mistakes did by some in the past, are about to be done by others. Sao Paulo’s Governor, Geraldo Alckim, should study in a few weeks, a bill “forbidding the sale, breeding, reproduction and importation of all the dogs belonging to the Rottweiler, Pit Bull and Neapolitan Mastiff breeds.”
Let’s note that the bill had been approved by the Brazilian National Assembly on September 12, 2002 under the name of bill #55/1999. All it lacks to be enforced, is the approval of the Governor. All offenders will have to face a penalty fare of 1500 Brazilian reals. The author of the bill, Deputy Gilberto Nascimento, supports his bill by assessing that the breeds concerned are dangerous and hard to control…
Let’s hope that the worst will be avoided.
