If you’re in or near Spain on April the 22nd, and if you are a Dogo Argentino lover, be sure to take a day to go Deltebre, in Southern Catalogne.
Spanish Dogo fanciers are waiting for you in Southern Catalogne, in Deltebre, a very popular and beautiful sea resort by the Mediterranean Sea, on April the 22nd, for a whole day dedicated to the breed.
The event will be organised for the third consecutive time by the FEDA, the European Federation of the Argentinean Mastiff.
The organisers insist on the importance and essence of such a day: “For the 1st edition, we watch pictures of the first Dogos, like el Tupi and Uturrunco. Compared to today’s dogs, those dogs were smaller and thinner, and this allowed them to do things that our modern, tall and large dogs couldn’t perform. Those dogs fought pumas an wild boars, and the motto was to win or to die. Our Dogos can no longer do this, and it’s not because they lack the strength or the courage, but simply because they are to heavy and don’t have enough air to hunt and fight for hours. Those considerations lead us to two conclusions. First, we should select lighter dogs, and second, we should try to make Dogo owners to have their dogs practice more physical activities.”
