131 Afghan hounds and 125 Salukis attended the FALAPA "Nationale d'Elevage" show in Vierzon, France, on September 24th. The exhibition never fails to impress by the sheer quantity of rare-breed dogs. Indeed, in France, no more than 200 Afghans and 150 Salukis are born each year - that alone proves just how professionally engaged and passionate breeders of Asian hounds really are.
The group of judges that had been invited by the French Club de Race was particularly up to it and greatly appreciated. There were Don Wielden (female Salukis) and Marco Cocozza (male Afghans) from England, and Jerry Klein (female Afghans) from the United States. Mrs Lelong judged the male Afghans while Mr. Barjot was the one in charge of the young classes for both breeds.
