You read it right, that’s what actually happened on the main ring for the Best In Show… as the dogs of the 4th and 9th Groups were missing for the final judgement!
Back to the Euro dog Show, which took place in Tulln from June 3 to 5. The judge in charge of the Maltese was the Belgian judge Liliane de Ridder-Onghena, and out of the 45 dogs entered in the breed, there was the most famous Maltese on the European continent, Multi-champion Funny Ladies Segarl.
This Maltese has been a real phenomenon since its first steps on European rings and its numerous victories. Funny Ladies was born in Japan, and he belongs to Miss Nanta Tansacha, who lives in Thailand. In Europe, he is handled by famous Belgian breeder Laurent Heinesche, whose affix Des Supers Supers is internationally renowned in the world of the Poodles.
This little Maltese missed an excellent opporftunity to be in the news again. Indeed, in Tulln, he won the Best of Breed on Friday June 3, and a few hours later he won his Group, the Group 9. Logically he was among the pretenders to the Best In Show title on Sunday evening. Unfortunately, Funny Ladies’ owner could not be present on the evening of the Best In Show… and there’d be only 9 dogs on the main ring competing for the supreme European title. This absence is the reason for the tribute to one dog, which has won so many Best In Shows in Europe during the last few months (Brussels, Luxembourg, Brabo, etc.) To conclude, let’s note that while the Best In Show was beginning, an other pretender, the Dachshund, was missing. 10-1-1 = 8, which is quite uncommon for a European dog show Best In Show.
