Evolution of the Boxer

Evolution of the Boxer

Text by Franck Haymann, pictures RR

Since the beginning of the breed selection, the type of the Boxer changed a lot. Here is the example of 30 generations of selection, from Box St Salvator – born in 1894 – to his direct descendant, Jacinto D'Jandilla – born in 2002.

The evolution of the type is obvious and remarkable. Here is the example of a major direct line in Europe, which shows the work realised by breeders during the 20th century.

Evolution of the Boxer

F1 (1st Generation), Box St-Salvator.

Evolution of the Boxer F2, Flock-St Salvator, 1894, a white dog with a few fawn marks.

Evolution of the Boxer F3, Hugo v Pfalzgau, 1900, a fawn dog, considered the most important son of Meta VD Passage.

Evolution of the Boxer F4, Curt v Pfalzgau, 1906, a fawn dog.

Evolution of the Boxer F5, Ch Rolf v Vogelsberg, 1908, is one of the bedrocks of the selection of the Boxer. He was bred by Friedrun Stockmann, called the “mother of the Boxer”. For over 50 years, she bred the some of the most important dogs of the international selection, under the affix Von Dom. Rolf won five time the champion title –Sieger – and he also was the father of first class descendants.

Evolution of the Boxer F6, Ch Rolf v Walhall, 1911

Evolution of the Boxer F7, Moritz v Goldrain, 1918

Evolution of the Boxer F8, Cäsar v Deutenkofen, 1921, a fawn dog

Evolution of the Boxer F9, Ch Ganthi Struthio, 1925, a fawn dog

F10, Canis V Hassia

F11, Emir v Schillerstein, 1933

Evolution of the Boxer F12, Ch Lump v Menchendahl, 1935, a brindle dog

Evolution of the Boxer F13, Ch Cerberus v Haus Germania, 1946, a fawn dog, great son of Lustig Von Dom through his mother Idella v.Pfarrkirchen

F14, Ch Leoncillo's Alf

F15, Ch Faust v Haus Germania, a fawn dog exported to Great Britain.

F16, Winkinglight Vanquisher

Evolution of the Boxer F17, Winkinglight Jandan Jupiter

Evolution of the Boxer F18, Ch Witherford Chrystal Clear, 1956

Evolution of the Boxer F19, Ch Witherford Dawn Sky, 1958

Evolution of the Boxer F20, Ch Witherford Hot Chestnut, 1960, a brindle dog imported from Great Britain, which revolutionised German breeding.

Evolution of the Boxer F21, Ch Carlo ut Gütsel, 1965, a brindle dog

Evolution of the Boxer F22, Ch Iko v Springbach, 1967, a brindle dog

Evolution of the Boxer F23, Ch Carlo v Hennigshof, 1972, a brindle dog

Evolution of the Boxer F24, Ch Carlino v Nassau Oranien, 1975, a brindle dog

Evolution of the Boxer F25, Ch Bruno v Morsbach, 1978, a brindle dog

Evolution of the Boxer F26, Ch Xanthos v Bereler Ries, 1980, a brindle dog

Evolution of the Boxer F27, Ch Athos de l’Enfer Vert, 1985, a fawn dog

Evolution of the Boxer F28, Ch Don Carlos du Fief des Ilots, 1988, a fawn dog

Evolution of the Boxer F29, Ch Ibsen VD Sembacher Flur, 1991, a fawn dog

Evolution of the Boxer F30, Ch Périco du Val d’Europe, 1999. This brindle dog is rightly considered as one of today’s tenors, with almost 200 matings. Meanwhile, tens of his descendants are homologated champions.

Evolution of the Boxer F31 Ch Dismo Di Soragna, 2000, This multi champion brindle dog particularly distinguished himself in its native Portugal, by finishing Best Boxer 2003. Dismo comes from one of the oldest Italian selections - founded in 1946 by Marco Marenghi – and his descendants are already beginning to accumulate the victories in the youngest show classes.

Evolution of the Boxer F32 Ch Jacinto D’jandilla, February 17, 2002. This brindle dog is the son of Dismo and of a daughter of Saverio di Soragna. In 2003, he won the title of Young Champion at the ATIBOX.
