The international community calls Rumania a "dog killer" state. But the local authorities remain unmoved. Bucharest is in the midst of all the debates with the slaughter of the canine population, organized by the mayor of the city.
The situation is not very likely to improve for all the dogs of the Rumanian capital. The latest news we have just received from a Rumanian journalist confirm the fact that, despite the intervention of several international organizations, the mayor of Bucharest continues his dirty work with no respect for any right.
Indeed, the canine condition is Rumania is getting worst by the day, and is close to a total catastrophe. Our correspondent, Isabela Alexandrescu, confirms:
"The news from Rumania is very dark. The killings continue in the shelters, without anaesthesia, naturally, or directly in the street, with poisoned meat thrown out of cars... In the morning, when people go to work or children to school, they are horrified to see numerous dogs agonizing and screaming with pain, lying on the pavement... The Rumanian medias are mute, they are the accomplices of these killings, apart from those, which bark against those abandoned dogs. Bucharest mayor said he preferred that the money, which could solve this problem, be distributed to the orphans and sick children. It seems like we're in the wrong millennium in Rumania."
