3 - The Owner's Comfort

Distribution of Food

Installing "stable" doors allows you to simply open the upper flap to check on the dogs and distribute food and water without having to enter the boxes.

Dogs Entering and Exiting

A "guillotine" door system allows you to release the dogs into their yards in the morning by sliding the doors open from the corridor. On the contrary, distributing food draws the dogs back into their boxes, at which point you can shut the door behind them as they go down for the night. This system also permits a fast evacuation in the case of fire.

Cleaning

For easy cleaning, you should invest from the very start in materials resistant to:- corrosion,- acid and alkaline disinfectants,- frost and heat,- high pressure (high pressure pumps of the Karcher type).

You should install a water tap every four boxes, so as to facilitate cleaning and water distribution.

A two to four degree slant leading to collection gutters is generally enough to facilitate the draining of urine, rainwater and cleaning products.

Watching

Your peace of mind passes through the possibility to regularly watch the behavior and health of your boarders without disturbing them. Consequently, it is advised to plan a panoramic watching area (tennis referee chair, for instance), which will allow you to "see without being seen" so as to detect possible incompatibilities between dogs, strange behaviors, etc...
