A little like "indoor crickets", cats have come to be recognized as pets in their own right. More autonomous and requiring less space, cats have many traits that attract people in this day and age. People who are rushed and stressed find tenderness and understanding in the touch of a cat, with just a hint of the mischievousness and unpredictability that gives cats their special charm.
