The 35th Allgemeiner Deutscher Rottweiller Klub Championship Show took place on August 20 & 21 in Hohegeiss, in the north of Germany, near Hanover. It was organised for the first time by the local group of the bezirksgruppe Braunlage-Hohegeiss, one of the 114 member groups of the ADRK.
Of course, just like for the previous editions Aniwa was there. Yet unlike the previous edition which had taken place on the first weekend of September, the ARDK decided to organise the show on the penultimate weekend of August. The jury was entirely made up of German judges, with Mr Edgar Hellmann (Zwinger Vom Wilden Westen), Mr Anton Spindler (Zwingre Von der Zirbelnuss), Mr Harmutt Teschke (Zwinger Vom Horster Dreieck) and mr Jürgen Wulff (Zwinger Störtebeker). We think that inviting sometimes a few foreign judes would give a more international touch to the show! There were 8 classes for the dogs and 8 for the bitches. The largest class was the Bitch Young Class with 61 entries. The winner of that class was the beautiful daughter of Jumbo Vom Kummelsee, Valeria Von Kressbach. That class was also the most international one concerning the ranked winners, which came for four different countries!

It was the second time in a row that Ulrike Grube, the president of the ADRK, inaugurated the championship show. On Saturday morning, a long time before the judgements started, the stadium was already crowded with dogs and exhibitors looking for their rings. As we could expect it, all the dogs entered had their natural, long tails. Indeed, tail docking has been forbidden in Germany since 1998, and only the Rottweilers born before June the 1st 1998 can be exhibited in Germany. Yet there were three dogs with their tails docked (one from Russia, one from France and one from Bosnia, but they were not exhibited).
On the participation point of view, Hohegeiss will remain in history with 421 Rottweilers entered, among which 193 dogs and 228 bitches. Just like the previous years, the foreign participation was quite important. This explains Paul Fleige’s words (Main breed Warden of the ADRK), who said that in the future, he would like to see more German exhibitors take part in the championship show.
Let’s underline three excellent results from French breeders: Uzar of Little Crazy Crew (Janosh von der Scherau x Red Showy Lee de Guerriers Pacifiques) finished 3rd in the Intermediate Class V3, but above all, he won the title of non German Young Club Champion!
In the Open Class, let’s underline Jacques Gheiss’ Rico Earl Antonus’ victory (Dollo V Haus Nagy x Taiga V Bonzi). In the final, for the title of Klubsieger, he was opposed to Filou v Rauberwerg (Brutus v Rauberwerg x Mona Vom Ostsachsen) and Quantas Vom Jägerburger Forst (Hakim V Brunnenweible x Lexa Vom Schweiger Wappen), which won the title at the age of 6 and ½ (this is quite an unusual thing in the world of the Rottweiler). Ricco left with the title of KS Auslander, the title awarded to the best foreign dog.
The third excellent French result was the fourth place of the bitch Leila Von Calibra in the young clas (Akino Von Der Lauterbrücke x Bosi Von Calibra).
The Best of Breed of this 35th Championship Show, Quantas Vom Jägersburger Forst, was not among the favourites. And no one expected his victory, considering that he is over 6 years of age and that he didn’t have any exceptional results in the past 6 months. However, such was the result. For the designation of the best adult dog, the jury was not particularly courageous by choosing Quantas instead of younger and more promising dog.
Among the favourites, there were Filou Vom Räuberwerg, Valentino Vom Hause Neubrand – which finished V2 in the working class – and Djuke Vom Vilstaler Land, which was maybe the most serious candidate to the title of Klubsieger 2005, considering his excellent results in Germany and all over Europe.
