With less than 1,700 dogs entered, it seemed that the CACIB in Mantes la Jolie wasn’t an unavoidable event in the season. Was it due to the French elections about the European Constitution, the rather expensive entry fee, or the nearness of the European Dog Show in Tulln and the French Championship Show in Lyon in the next two weeks? Whatever, with less than 20 dogs on his ring (17 precisely), judge Henri Bruniaux could spend a lot of time on each dog and give minute judgements.
Indeed, there were no champion or top dogs (even if the daughter of Samo du Normont, in picture above, had many qualities), but the atmosphere on the ring was relaxed, an there were a few newcomers, who could therefore appreciate a not too tough competition for their first time.
The winner of the Dog CAC and CACIB was ULHAN du Domaine du Val d’Aulnoy (a son of Murintz du Normont), which also won the Best of Breed.
