This document is compulsory and should comply with certain specificities. On this document one finds the personal details (name and address) of both the vendor and vendee, as well as a description of the animal (which should be as precise as possible). The date of purchase and of delivery must also be stated on the document. This will determine the legal guarantee period against redhibitory defects.
The conditions of sale must be clearly stated, and the price too. You should also check that the usage you intend to make of the dog is stated too: if the animal is destined to be merely a pet, you will find it hard winning the case later on should you decide to sue because the dog isn’t confirmed as a pure breed specimen once it has reached adulthood. So, if you intend to use your dog for breeding or for dog shows, it is clearly in your interest to have this stated on the certificate.
