You read it all right. The Dracula Dog Show, organised under the aegis of the Romanian Kennel Club, will take place just by Dracula’s Castle.
Several members of the committee of the Romanian Kennel Club, among whom international judge Cristian Stefanescu, had been thinking for a few years to create an international canine event just by Dracula’s catsle. I had personally met them in 2003, and already at that time was the thought of the show in their mind. This will finally become true on August 5th and 6th, with three shows all in one : national breed specialty shows organised by Romanian breed clubs, the Dracula Dog Show (FCI CACIB) and the Open show. These three shows will all take place at the same location… Dracula Land.
This show will provide the exhibitors and visitors with an excellent opportunity to discover the level of the selection of the breed associations in Romania, to discover Romania’s local breeds, which are still very little known outside of the boundaries of their country, and to find yourself in a unique historical and mythical place. Dracula’s castle is located in Transylvania, a region in the north west of Romania.
Dracula, whose real name was Vlad Tepes, and who was called the Impaler, was a cruel and merciless king. His victims used to be impaled in front of the castle until their were completely emptied from their blood. And that’s how the legend of the vampires partially started in the region.
The show will take place in the medieval castle of the Mures.
