IFR Championship 2005: Welcome to America

IFR Championship 2005: Welcome to America

Text and pictures franck Haymann

The Rottweiler Working World Championship will take place in the USA on November 18, 19 and 20.

Due to the change of continent every year, the IFR IPO championships are never the same. This year, it is the turn of the United States to organise this championship, where the best dogs of the IPO world are generally gathered. But the distances, the preparation of the national teams and the form of each competitor have a great influence on the decision to take part or not in such an event.

This year, the IPO I, II and III (obedience, defence and tracking) trials will take place in three days in Clermont, a town near Orlando, Florida. The judges in charge of judging the thirty dogs are Franck mensing, from Canada, for the tracking trial, Gotfried Dildei, from the USA, for the obedience trial, and Sandy Purdy, also from the USA, for the defence trial.

On the dogs side, IPO I is almost entirely American, with the exception of one dog from Italy. There’s only dog entered in the IPO II, and he comes from Belgium. 23 dogs are entered for the IPO III, and they come from a dozen of countries. There are six dogs coming from Belgium, among which the IFR champion 2004. It’s a just pity that France, Spain, the Netherlands or other countries are not represented. Because the IFR is an international organisation, made up of about 30 countries!
