Here is for you our exclusive report on the Dogues de Bordeaux at the Eurodog Show 2005 in Tulln, on Sunday the 5th of June.
The French canine international star, the Dogue de Bordeaux, was in good health at the Euro Dog Show2005, with more than 80 entries (46 dogs, 35 bitches). The only ring was outside, under a large tent – which was a rather good thing considering the sunny weather - but the ground was gravel, and this is definitely the worse for our breed…
The judge in charge of judging the 81 Dogues de Bordeaux was Rafael Malo Alcrudo, a Spanish specialist. By looking at the audience and exhibitors, it was easy to see that Polish, Hungarian, Russian and Italian fanciers represented the majority of the exhibitors. There were also a few Greek, German, Dutch and Scandinavian breeders too. Because of the ground, the judgement of the movements was very hard for the most of the dogs, as the organisers probably believed that a Dogue de Bordeaux weighed less than 10 kilos. The judge pointed out that he was often confronted to a dilemna : either the dog was perfect while stacking, but the movements were rather bad, or the dog didn’t catch the eye during the morphological exam, and then moved like he was a champion. The bitch CACIB was awarded to a bitch from the Open Class, Brandoux Calais. But for the Best Of Breed, this title went to the dog CACIB, Asso Tatra Bordo.
A very nice dog with a lot of temperament and type took the RCACIB
CACIBbitch, Brandoux Calais (Signore Kwan de la Seigneurie des Chartrons x Laruscade Bibi), owned by Mr Bakker from the Netherlands, but born in the most famous kennel in the UK, belonging to Mr Bates, “Mr DDB in UK”.
CACIB Dog Asso Tatra Bordo (Arthur of Clearcut, line of Belmondo The Red Powerpack x Aria Ahapes). This Slovakian dog was particularly noticed as a stud in France and Spain. He now lives at the Spanish kennel De Dominio De Los Penates.
