Focus on the Miniature Schnauzers at the Euro Dog Show 2005
Emmanuel Pacitto - Pictures C. Hermeline/Doxicat

With 289 Miniature Schnauzers, it was simply impossible to miss them in the halls of the Euro Dog Show in Tulln. So here is a special focus about the miniature Schnauzer, the smallest of the three varieties of Schnauzers.

While in the Standard et Giant variety of the breed, the only colours authorised are the black and the pepper and slat, there are four recognised colours in the miniature variety, the black, the pepper and salt, the black and silver, and the white. There were respectively 102, 86, 74 and 27 entries for each of these colours.

Many breeders had come from Russia, Scandinavia, Italy and Eastern Europe (Poland, Estonia, Czech Republic, etc), and they won most of the titles. Indeed, the Best Of Breeds in the black and black and silver varieties were awarded to Russian dogs, as well as the Dog CACIB in the white variety.
Italian breeders had excellent results too, especially in the young classes, with 5 of the 8 titles. Let’s also note the very good results of the Czech, Polish and Estonian breeders, who won several CACS, RCACS, and had many dogs classed among the four best of the class. The Best Of Breed in the pepper and salt variety – the most numerous one – was awarded to a Swedish bitch.
