For the first time in the history of Crufts, the Best In Show went on Sunday evening to a famous Pekingese, Yakee A Dangerous Liaison.
Yakee A Dangerous Liaison – a son of Top Stud Dog 2000 Champion Tenling Golden Arrow of Pekehuis – had already achieved an excellent performance last year at Crufts, where he had won his group and finished Reserve Best In Show.
Yakee also won third time in a row his Group at Crufts. Three years of victory in the open class. It is one of the most titled Pekingese in Great Britain, and he is rightly considered as a star by many dog fanciers. Judge Gerald Mitchell, who had awarded Yakee one of his first BIS titles – East of England Agricultural Society Championship Show in Peterborough – had said about him: “A star is born, and this dog is a star.” Three years later, we can see how true this judge was!
Runner up was also a much expected dog, Ch Torums Tunde Bayou (Ch Arranshire Pioneer x Dasumianco Quitner). This dog had finished second from the Terrier Group in 2002, behind the Scottish Terrier Ch Mayson Petrina. He had also been crowned Top Terrier in 2001. Ch Torums Tunde Bayou has the same parents as famous Ch Torums Scarf Michael, Crufts 2000 and Westminster 2003 BIS (this dog belongs to the Club 100, that is the circle of dogs having obtained more than 100 BIS in the American circuit). Their father, Arranshire Pioner had won the CC at Crufts 1997, and finished two years earlier Top Kerry in the United Kingdom.
