Ringworms are cutaneous mycoses (fungal growth) of the skin and phalanx.
- Symptoms: localized or generalized hair loss. Erythema and more or less intense squamatization. Ringworm is not accompanied by pruritis and does not affect the overall health of the dog, but it is highly contagious from dogs to humans. It is transmitted by tineal animals or through soil.
Often localized. Characterized by presence of abundant tinea. Regular patches of alopecia formed (incisive). Tegument is erythematous especially around the edges and is covered with grayish scales that have a powdery appearance. Lesions appear on the entire body and on the upper and anterior regions.
Localized or generalized forms.
- Treatment: good hygiene with specific and lengthy local and general treatments.
