Glaucoma refers to an ensemble of disorders that cause increased intraocular pressure, compromising vision and the future of the eye.
- Primary symptoms: the eye appears enlarged, as though it were popping out of its socket, total mydriasis (extremely dilated pupil) accompanied by a loss of photopic adaptation (the pupil does not contract when exposed to light); severe congestion in the vascularization of the conjunctiva (eye is extremely red and the vessels are enlarged and sinuous).
- Steps to take: quickly consult a veterinarian; vision and the eye may be irreparably harmed.
