Corneal ulcers refer to corneal abrasion that can affect the different layers of the cornea. Their origins are diverse.
-Primary symptoms: extremely painful (scratching or rubbing the eye on the ground). Pain accompanied by severe squinting and mucopurulent fluid discharge. The cornea loses its smooth, shiny appearance and becomes cloudy.
- Steps to take: cleaning the eye with a mildly antiseptic eyewash will sooth the inflammation. Avoid using corticosteroid-based eyewashes or ointments. It is best to consult a veterinarian, who will be able to diagnose the ulcers with precision and prescribe appropriate treatment.
