Dog wool? It’s no joke! If you want to, nothing stops you from knitting a sweater, a scarf or a pair mittens from your fluffy friend’s hair – or, to be more precise, his “under-coat”.
But, I hear you say, how on earth does one get from combing a dog to knitting its hair ?? You’ll find the answer 3 hours away from Paris, France, in Planchez, a village located bang in the middle of the forests and lakes of the Regional Park of Morvan.
That is where Doumé Jalat-Dehen, after 20 years in public relations, has converted herself to dog’s hair knitting!
It must be said, though, that, well before she began devoting herself to this craft, dogs represented an important part of her life. She bought her first German Shepherd in New Zealand when she was only 18. She went on to organize dog shows, and even the Worldwide Animal Day in Numea (New-Caledonia). Today, she has two German Shepherds and two Leonbergers.
