Thousands of dogs are killed on the road every year. Know how to carry out simple procedures and life-saving techniques, and to avoid actions that could be harmful to your animal.
You are walking your dog, but suddenly you let go its leash and it escapes. Seconds later, it has been hit by a car. You’re afraid it may have a broken paw, or cracked rib, or even worse… Even before calling your vet, you have to immediately remove your dog from the road. For a greater safety, it is advised to muzzle your dog. Pain or fear could cause it to bite, even its owner. Of course, you don’t always have a muzzle with you, then a simple binding around its mouth can do.
Use a binding long enough, and cross it several times around the dog’s muzzle, but don’t tie it. Cross the binding a last time under the muzzle.
Then take the binding behind the neck and tie it. The muzzle is ready,You can carry your dog safely.
If you are alone, you have two possibilities. It all depends on your strength and the size and weight of your dog.
Place one hand under the abdomen and the other under the neck.
Or place one hand behind the elbows and the other under the neck or behind the hind legs
Of course, it will be easier to carry the dog if you can get some help. One person should carry the dog at the level of the shoulders, the other beneath the rear undercarriage.
Or even better, if you have a blanketone person should carry the front and the other, the rear.
