Having a dog in the home is not only positive and serious thought should be given to the matter before making the decision to acquire one. It is necessary to be aware of the constraints linked to the presence of a dog:- limited freedom since the dog needs to be cared for, even on weekends and vacations (many people realize this too late and abandon their animal during this period!);- the financial costs involved in owning an animal that has to be identified, vaccinated, de-wormed, maintained, fed and cared for when he is sick;- the time that must be devoted to him;- the notions of hygiene that must be adopted and especially imposed on the dog in a family environment;- the problems with neighbors are so classic that every dog owner is confronted with one at least once in his life;- the family problems that arise during separation, death, divorce or sometimes a simple illness;- the risks to others in that sometimes other people are afraid of dogs, or conversely, they pet the dog without taking the proper precautions and the dog may bite even if he is not mean, but simply because he was startled.
