Causes of infertility in canine breeding facilities are numerous. A logical analysis and a good understanding of the stages from mating to whelping can very often determine the cause of these problems.
Seemingly contagious infertility will lead the veterinarian to look for infectious causes (epidemic). A sudden infertility can be the result of psychological (stress) or physiological (weather or environment) problems. When only a few bitches are concerned, the veterinarian may suspect the breeding stud.
