Among the factors influencing kitten growth are intrinsic factors determined by genetics (breed, sex, gene pool of the parents, hormonal mechanisms) and extrinsic factors involving the environment in a broad sense. These extrinsic factors are based essentially on the mother's and then the kitten's diet and are tempered by health and social conditions (breeding, living space, and maternal behavior).
