Affenpinscher

Other names : Diabletin moustachu (mustached little devil)

Native country : Germany

History

Affenpinscher, meaning “Monkey-like terrier” in german, received its name because of its small head with a monkey-like expression. It is thought that this breed is descended from the brussels griffon, or perhaps the other way around. The Affenpinscher has been around a long time; paintings prior to the seventeenth century depict similar looking dogs. Beginning in the late 1930s, the popularity of this little dog took off when he began to make a name for himself at dog shows.

Description

This dog exhibits a mixture of exuberance and serenity. He is lively, alert, loyal, affectionate, bold, and rather obstinate. The affenpinscher is a hunter of vermin and an excellent guard dog that will bark a warning to alert his owner.

Advice

This breed can make a good house dog. Daily brushing and combing is required.

Guard dog. Hunter of vermin. Pet.
