- Hair follicles are made up of hairs and their pores, a sebaceous gland and the arrector pili, a muscle responsible for making the hair stand on end.
- There are two types of sweat glands. Apocrine glands are located deep in the dermis throughout the body and open below the sebaceous gland. Eccrine glands are located where the deep dermis and panniculus meet, but only on the nose and the metacarpal pads. They open onto the epidermis, independently of the hair follicle.
- Other glands include the anal glands, used to mark territory and the tail glands, located above the base of the tail.
