The average total capacity of the intestine is approximately 250 ml. The large intestine begins with a curved cecum.
The colon ends in a short rectum and an anus with two anal glands (anal sacs) that produce a strong-smelling secretion particular to each animal. This secretion is used in marking territory and in recognition between cats.
