There it goes, you’ve made up your mind: this weekend, you decide to make your house look fresher. Moving furniture, cleaning, new paint. However, be careful with your cat, it may be intoxicated by lead.
An American study looked into the characteristics of intoxication caused by lead over 45 years. 70 cases dealt with cats. 84% of those cases had been caused by old paints, during house renovation works. The most common signs of a lead intoxication are the following: anorexia, vomiting, convulsions, the later being more frequent in younger animals. You should therefore be careful when you start renovating an old house, where there still may be rests of paints containing lead.
