Nowadays, there are no less than 60 cat breeds recognised by different international feline organisations. Enter this fascinating universe and explore the world of cat shows thanks to this first issue of PUREBRED CATS.
“In most of the developed countries today, the cat is taking the dog’s place in many homes. A cat does not always need to be taken care of, is less destructive and more adapted to urban life. In Europe and in the United States, they became the preferred pets. Purebred cats are still quite marginal: often, a cat was given to a family or was welcome into their home. People tend to adopt purebred kittens though, and this has many advantages: the phenotype is as well known as the behaviour, very different between the breeds. PUREBRED CATS intends to present the main cat shows around the world, trying both to encourage a better knowledge of the official instances and to ensure the purebred cats’ promotion. This first issue is devoted to three main shows, which took place in Copenhagen, Houston and Birmingham. We hope that this new quarterly magazine will encourage communication between cat fanciers, breeders and nutrition and health specialists.”
