Our Tarzan does not live in the jungle, and he is not Jane’s friend. Not at all. Our Tarzan is a young Turkish Angora, whose show career is beginning at 100% !
Annie Bernel is very famous in the world of cat fancy. And be it under the name of De la Perle d’Antalya (in France) or Antalya’ Perl (in the US), Annie has been successfully breeding Turkish Angoras for over 15 years. Let’s hear what she says about the breed. “This cat is intelligent and very curious, he is constantly watching what you’re doing, he’ll never miss a thing. He’s also very agile with his legs: for instance, if you’re writing, you can be sure he’ll try to steal the pen or the paper from you. But then he’ll be so cuddly, and purring so loud, that you’ll forgive him… before running away with your glasses or whatever is at hand.”
Since a little while, Annie has been possessing a new star, a male called Tarzan. Here is what she says about him: “Tarzan’s career is just beginning. He was only nine months old when he we showed him at Lamorlaye’s cat show. He finished best semi-longhair cat and Best Cat In Show. On his maternal grandfather’s side, one can find a famous Canadian line (Tameral Cattery) and on his paternal grandfather’s side, one can find a German line (Vaha Cattery). On the other, on the his two grandmothers’ side, they are cats issued from my own line, and both had won Best of Best, like their ancestors, who were European Grand Champion and European Champion. We’ve been working on the breed for more than 15 years now. We continue our work of selection by introducing in our own line, very famous American lines. From those lines, we obtained very beautiful queens, such as Antalya’ Perl Moonlight – Best of Best at the age of 6 months in Paris Bercy. And one of her daughters will be start her show career very shortly too.”
The Turkish Angora is a gracious cat, perfectly balanced and well proportioned, with a silky coat. As stated in the breed standard, there is a surprising contrast between the floating coat, and the long, fine and muscled body. A perfect definition of the young Star from the D’Antalya Cattery.
