KAPS, the Korean Animal Protection Society, will be organising a protest demonstration on May 30, in front of the Korean Cultural Centre in New York.
For more than 2 years, there were lots of rumours flying about the breeding of cats and dogs designed to become human food in Korea. Many articles, pictures and videos seemed to confirm these rumours were true. Across the world, many associations, especially British and American ones, were worried by the phenomenon. But only one of these associations is confronted everyday with this huge and profitable market: KAPS.
The Korean Animal Association Society was create by Sunnan Kum, who says that: “Loving the animals, is like loving ourselves.” KAPS’ main objective is to make the Korean society respect the animals, and to denounce all the abuses observed in the recent years, especially against the canine and feline species. The association’s shelter, located in Taegu, in the south of the country, has been sheltering many cats and dogs, which were to finish their life in a butcher’s shop. After having organised several demonstrations and petitions in their country, and also abroad, KAPS is inviting you to protest in new York, on May 30, 2002, in front of the Korean Cultural Centre, so as not to forget the fate of thousands of Korean cats and dogs. The time for the protest is 12H30.
